WITH 1 by 3 September 2025 the year of the South African Space Agency (SANSA) holds the 6th meeting of space economy leaders (SELM6) in the city of Germanus (Western Cape Province). The event will take place in the framework of the PUIs in G20 and will collect the heads of space agencies of the Grand Twenty, representatives of international organizations and leading companies.
This is the first time the event will be held in Africa. Previously, meetings were hosted by Saudi Arabia (2020), Italy (2021), Indonesia (2022), India (2023) and Brazil (2024). The forum has become an important platform for dialogue between developed and new space powers, discussion of the role of space technologies in sustainable development and strengthening of international partnership.
The main topic of this year's meeting: «Space as a catalyst for inclusive global economic development: policy, partnership and welfare». Discussions will focus on the use of space science and technology to address climate challenges, digital transformation and socio-economic progress.
The SELM6 program will include policy dialogues, technical exchanges and business meetings. Expected, which will result in the formation of practical recommendations for the G20 leaders, and also created new opportunities for collaboration between South African scientists, entrepreneurs and international partners.
