Paragon Space Development Corporation lays off 70 employees after that, as NASA officially stopped work on the lunar orbital station Lunar Gateway.
Main details of the event:
Cause: The staff cuts are directly related to the elimination of the Gateway program. Paragon was a key subcontractor for Northrop Grumman and was responsible for the development of the life support system (ECLSS) for HALO housing and logistics module (Habitation and Logistics Outpost).
Management's reaction: The head of the company noted, that the loss of the contract is a significant blow, however, it will not become fatal for business.
Further plans: Despite the change in NASA's plans for a lunar station, Paragon plans to adapt its more than 30 years of experience in extreme environment life support systems to other government and commercial projects, in particular for future plans to create bases directly on the surface of the Moon.
