Partisan, Squareroot8 and NuSpace form alliance for quantum-secure satellite communications

Three companies — Partisia, Squareroot8 is NuSpace, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a new concept of secure satellite communications. The basis of cooperation is the use of a quantum random number generator (QRNG) on board the satellite and modern cryptographic protocols to ensure communication, resistant to threats from quantum computing.

How the system works?

Satellite, equipped with QRNG, generates highly reliable random keys, which are transferred to two parties. This allows them to exchange encrypted messages using post-quantum cryptography—without the risk of interception or hacking, even with quantum computers.

In addition to secure communication, the satellite also performs data pre-processing for multilateral calculations (MPC). MPC is a cryptographic method, which allows multiple parties to compute a function over their input data without disclosing that data to each other.

Why do you need pre-calculation??

In many MPC protocols, the most time-consuming part is the preparatory stage — the preliminary generation of "secret" random numbers. Example, in some cases, preparation can take almost a week, and the calculation itself is only an hour. If this data is generated by the satellite in advance and continuously, the speed of calculations will increase many times.

Advantages of using a satellite:

  • Security: physical access to the satellite is almost impossible, unlike terrestrial servers.
  • Productivity: pre-calculation can be done long before the moment of use, reducing delays.
  • Privacy: the satellite does not see real data - it only generates anonymous random numbers.

This solution makes orbit an ideal environment for secure computing and modern cryptography. Thanks to the combination of QRNG, satellites and quantum-secure cryptography, the alliance provides a new level of efficiency, privacy and data protection — and all this in the context of the growing need for a secure digital infrastructure.
