The Pentagon details the role “pioneer” into cyber- and space operations in Iran

A delegation of the German Space Agency at DLR visited the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, from 16 by 20 February 2026 year. The occasion was the symposium "Space Technologies for Humanity", organized by the Regional Center for Mapping Resources for Development (RCMRD).

The goal is to strengthen cooperation with Africa, example, by establishing links between space service providers and end users. One of the concrete cooperation initiatives is the INNOspace network, which has over 700 partners and facilitates the establishment of communication between providers and users of space services.

After the symposium, a training course was held on the topic "International Charter: Space and great catastrophes", organized by the Center for Remote Sensing of the Earth's Surface (ZFL) University of Bonn, UN-SPIDER, Royal Center for Research and Combating Natural Disasters, by the European Space Agency (THIS) and the German Aerospace Center (DLR). For almost three days 50 participants from Kenya and other African countries learned about the access and use of satellite data by government organizations and disaster relief agencies.

DLR is a Charter member of 2010 year and provides Earth observation satellite data TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X, as well as data from the EnMAP environmental observation satellite from 2026 year.
