3 May 2026 Polish space company Eycore launched Eycore-1, an Earth observation satellite, equipped with a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) own development. This launch accelerates the development of the Polish military radar group POLSARIS, which should provide the country's armed forces with Earth monitoring capabilities.
Vice-president of the board and co-founder of Eycore Tomasz Kusovsky said, that the company is focused on developing and supplying advanced payloads and satellites with SAR technology, which provides a highly detailed image of the Earth's surface regardless of weather conditions or time of day. A key element of the company's offering is miniaturized radar sensors with low mass and optimal energy consumption, which allows them to be installed on smaller satellites, than traditional SARs.
At the same time, Eycore is promoting investment plans of approx 14 million dollars to expand production capacity. This investment is a key element of the Kaszubia Green Industrial District project, which is supported by the Ministry of National Defense. Finances will be directed to the construction of the company's new headquarters in Gdynia, as well as the production shop and premises, necessary for the production of high-precision radar technologies.
Work on the Eycore-1 program paved the way for the company's ongoing collaboration with Norway's Kongsberg NanoAvionics (KNA) — an integrator of small satellite missions, which is engaged in the development of new generation platforms. This cooperation is based on complementary competences: Eycore provides SAR radar, and KNA — a satellite platform. Together they create a fully European solution, which provides fast, sovereign access to highly detailed images day and night, regardless of weather conditions.
