Return of SpaceX Crew-10 astronauts from the ISS

SpaceX Crew-10 astronauts return to Earth after a five-month stay on the International Space Station (ISS). The Crew Dragon Endurance spacecraft with four crew members ejects from the ISS 8 August 2025 year, and landing is scheduled for 9 August in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California. Due to adverse weather conditions, particularly strong winds, NASA and SpaceX have moved the push from August 6-7 to 8 August Fr. 22:05 for UTC.

Return details

  • Crew: Commander Ann McClain (NASA), pilot Nicole Ayers (NASA), mission specialists Takuya Onishi (JAXA) and Kyrylo Peskov (Roscosmos). Crew-10 started 14 March 2025 year on the SpaceX Falcon rocket 9 from the Kennedy Space Center, arriving at the ISS 16 March.
  • Schedule of events (all times are UTC):
    • 8 August, 13:45: The start of the live broadcast of the closing of the hatches between Endurance and the ISS (expected closure of 14:20).
    • 8 August, 15:45: Broadcasting of the squeeze, scheduled for 22:05.
    • 9 August, 14:45: Resuming broadcast to cover deorbital maneuver (15:09).
    • 9 August, 15:58: Expected Endurance landing in the Pacific Ocean.
    • 9 August, 17:30: Press conference after landing, if everything goes according to plan.
  • Broadcasting: The events will be broadcast live on NASA+ (https://plus.nasa.gov), as well as on YouTube and other NASA platforms. Space.com can also broadcast, if NASA grants access to the stream.

Mission and achievements

Crew-10 spent more than 140 days, performing scientific experiments in preparation for missions beyond low Earth orbit and for practical use on Earth. The research covered:

  • Study of the effect of microgravity on blood vessels and human vision.
  • Research on plant growth in space to support lunar and Mars missions.
  • Testing the free-flight camera and observing the solar corona.

5 August 2025 2018, the crew held a farewell ceremony with seven other astronauts on the ISS, including the crew of Crew-11, who arrived 2 August for replacement.

Weather challenges

Pressing and planting depends on weather conditions in the planting areas near California. Strong winds caused the displacement of the printing from 6 on August 7 August, and then on 8 August Fr. 22:05 UTC. NASA and SpaceX continue to monitor the weather, sea state and readiness of the ship. The Crew Dragon Endurance is self-contained from launch to landing, but the crew can take over if needed. During entry into the atmosphere, the ship will experience temperatures up to 1927°C, but the heat shield and air conditioning system will protect the astronauts.
