Notice on the launch of the NISAR spacecraft

30 July 2025 year Fr. 12:10 (UTC) from the Satish Dhawan Space Center, India using a launch vehicle "GSLV Mk II" the launch of the ISS of India was carried out «NISAR».

«NISAR»it is a unique earth observation satellite, by weight 2392 kg and the first satellite, which observes the Earth using a dual-frequency synthetic aperture radar (NASA's L-band and ISRO's S-band), both of which use NASA's 12-meter deployable mesh reflector antenna, integrated into ISRO's modified I3K satellite bus. NISAR will observe the Earth with a line of sight 242 km and high spatial resolution, using SweepSAR technology for the first time.

The satellite will scan the entire globe and provide all weather data, day and night with a 12-day interval, which will allow its use in a wide range of applications. NISAR can detect even minor changes on the Earth's surface, such as soil deformation, ice sheet movement and vegetation dynamics. Additional applications include sea ice classification, ship detection, shoreline monitoring, characteristics of storms, changes in soil moisture, mapping and monitoring of surface water resources and response to natural disasters.

The launch of NISAR is the result of close technical collaboration between ISRO and NASA/JPL technical teams for over a decade.
