Its construction began in 2021 year with the launch of the Tianhe main module, which was later joined by two scientific laboratory modules — Wentian and Mengtian. The complete configuration is T-shaped and provides life support for a crew of three (with the possibility of a short-term increase to six).
Station "Tiangong" located in a low Earth orbit at an altitude of approx 400 km and a slope of 41.5°. It is an independent research platform, able to function autonomously for 10–15 years. The station receives regular manned missions «Shenzhou» and cargo ships «Tianzhou», that deliver supplies, equipment and fuel. "Tiangong" is an important stage in the development of China's space program, aimed at a self-sufficient stay in space and future exploration of the Moon and other planets.
