18 June 2026 року компанія Quantum Space повідомила про укладення контракту
з Міністерством оборони США на розробку орбітального заправника на базі своєї платформи Ranger. Апарат призначений для передачі палива супутникам на геостаціонарній орбіті.
For reference: Quantum Space — це американська аерокосмічна компанія, specializing in the creation of space logistics infrastructure, orbital stations and satellite maintenance. Its main product is the range of universal space vehicles Ranger, intended for refueling
and extending the life of satellites in orbit.
Фінансування здійснюється через Операційний фонд удосконалення енергетичних можливостей (OECIF). Компанія планує передати апарат Космічним силам США до 2028 year. Заправник буде сумісним із військовими супутниками-клієнтами. Quantum Space CEO Jim Bridenstine called the contract an important step in creating an orbital logistics infrastructure to support long-term military operations.
Quantum Space participates in the US Space Force's multibillion-dollar Andromeda program. As part of the program, the company offers the Ranger device for monitoring the space domain and plans to use its design as a client device for a demonstration refueling mission in geostationary orbit. The Ranger platform is designed for a payload of 500 kg to several metric tons of fuel and is equipped with a multi-mode propulsion system (chemical + electric traction on one type of fuel). Заправник Quantum матиме два стандартні інтерфейси дозаправки — Orbit Fab та Northrop Grumman, що забезпечить сумісність із широким колом військових і комерційних супутників.
Місія Ranger Prime стане першою льотною демонстрацією платформи та запланована на другий квартал 2027 year. Цей контракт виводить Quantum Space на ринок орбітальної логістики, де вже працюють Orbit Fab, Astroscale та Northrop Grumman.
