The Electron rocket launched another confidential commercial satellite

20 November 2025 Rocket Lab successfully launched the “Follow My Speed” mission with a payload for an unknown commercial customer. The Electron rocket launched from the Launch Complex 1 company Rocket Lab in New Zealand. The company did not disclose what exactly was put into orbit, notifying only, that it was one satellite, which belongs to a confidential commercial customer.

This is the third case in less than six months, when Rocket Lab does not name the commercial launch customer. In June, a launch was carried out with an undisclosed payload, which was later associated with the company EchoStar. Another launch 23 in August brought out five satellites for an also unannounced client. Subsequently, at the Space-Track base, these devices received the names Calistus A–E, and the owner was indicated as Rwanda. This raised suspicions, that the real customer is the E-Space company, which previously applied for frequencies through this country.

Electron's orbital launch took place less than a year ago 48 hours after the launch of the suborbital version of the Haste rocket from the Launch Complex 2 on Wallops Island (virginia, USA) 18 November. That launch carried a payload for the US Missile Defense Agency, developed by the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, as well as several additional experimental payloads from government and commercial organizations - all to test missile defense technologies.

Thanks to these two launches, Rocket Lab has already 18 Electron launches during 2025 year, which is an absolute record for the company, as they were all successful. This is in stark contrast to other Western developers of small launch vehicles, which carry out a maximum of several launches per year.
