7 September 2026 The Ministry of Economy of Slovenia announced the successful launch of the fourth Slovenian space satellite TRISAT-S from the territory of the municipality of Annej (Norway). The launch took place 5 September with the help of the first space flight of the SPECTRUM rocket, developed by the German company Isar Aerospace.
For reference: Isar Aerospace is a German private aerospace company and unicorn startup, which designs and manufactures launch vehicles for launching small and medium-sized satellites into orbit. The company has been called the main "European competitor to SpaceX" because of its potential to reduce the EU's dependence on American and Asian launch services.
The rocket launched five small satellites and one experimental satellite into the target orbits. The devices come from Germany, Norway, Austria, Bulgaria and Slovenia and appointed
for testing innovative technologies and components of satellite systems.
TRISAT-S became the fourth Slovenian satellite in orbit after the launches of Nemo HD, TRISAT та TRISAT-R. The Ministry of Economy noted, that this compact satellite, which is currently in Earth orbit, is an important step for Slovenia in space technology and is intended to act as a scout for future deep space missions.
TRISAT-S is an institutional non-commercial satellite mission, which is led by the University of Maribor in cooperation with the Slovenian space company SkyLabs. Despite them, that satellite of millions in low Earth orbit, the mission is specially designed to solve the problems of future research into deep space.
For reference: The SkyLabs company creates miniaturized satellite platforms (nanosatellites), on-board computer systems, space radiation resistant microcontrollers and communication systems for the aerospace market.
