The United States and Great Britain conducted the first joint orbital operation

US Space Command (US Space Command) and Great Britain (UK Space Command) in the period of 4 by 12 September 2025 coordinated orbital operation was conducted for the first time, which became an important stage in the development of bilateral partnership in the field of space security.

Within the Rendezvous Proximity Operation (RPO) an American satellite was maneuvered to check the working condition of the British apparatus in orbit. The event was held as part of the multinational initiative Operation Olympic Defender (MNF-OOD), which is headed by the US Space Command.

This is the first operation of this scale for the British Space Command, which indicates the growth of its operational capabilities in cooperation with American partners. The successful execution of the RPO confirmed the ability of the parties to perform dynamic and responsible operations in orbit, while maintaining the safety of the space environment.

MNF-OOD unites the US and its closest space allies to coordinate actions and form a common defense system in the event of threats. Great Britain was one of the first countries, who joined this initiative.

The conducted maneuver became a demonstration of the growing interoperability of the allies and a confirmation of their ability to act together in the conditions of growing competition in outer space. The operation also highlighted the strategic importance of multinational cooperation to ensure stability, containment of potential threats and the development of safe and responsible space use practices.
