The Kanyini satellite transmitted the first images from space

South Australia received the first images from space, taken by the Kanyini satellite. Its launch took place in August last year aboard the SpaceX Transporter-11 mission. Thus he spent 194 days in low Earth orbit. The mission management team from Inovor Technologies was watching the satellite all this time, located in the Lot Fourteen innovation cluster in Adelaide.

An important milestone for Australia's space industry

The publication of the first images was a significant achievement for the local space community. South Australia's Defense and Space Industry Minister Stephen Mulligan noted, that this event strengthens the position of the region as a national leader in space technology and confirms the successes of local developers.

The Kanyini satellite is Australia's first government satellite and a joint initiative of the South Australian Government, SmartSat CRC, Inovor Technologies та Myriota.

The first pictures are the result of many years of work

According to SmartSat CRC CEO Professor Andy Koronios, obtaining the first images was the result of many years of work and dedication of the engineering team, which actively worked on putting the satellite into operation.

Checking the functionality of the satellite

After launch, the team was engaged in testing and tuning Kanyini's core systems.

They confirmed, what: Solar panels and batteries are working properly, providing energy to the satellite. X-band radio communication is fully functional, which allows for efficient transmission of data to Earth.

The obtained images testify to the successful passage of the key stage of the mission. Next, the team will continue to check the operation of the equipment and prepare for the full use of the satellite for research and commercial tasks.
