Synspective is engaged to provide satellite imagery for Japan's new military group

The Japanese company Synspective was selected by the Ministry of Defense of Japan as a partner in the project of creating a new military satellite group.

Details of cooperation:

The purpose of the project: Create groupings of satellites, which will provide the Japan Self-Defense Forces with priority access to surveillance data, enhancing their situational awareness and intelligence capabilities.

Technology: Synspective will provide data from its synthetic aperture radar satellites (SAR). This technology makes it possible to obtain high-quality images of the Earth's surface regardless of the time of day and weather conditions (example, through clouds or during rain), which is critical for military intelligence.

The structure of the project: The project is implemented as part of a private financing initiative (PFI), where private companies build and operate infrastructure, and the government buys services under a long-term contract. The main contractor is a consortium led by Mitsubishi Electric.

Other partners: Besides Synspective, the consortium also includes several Japanese companies, зокрема institute for Q-shu piones of space (iQPS), Axelspace Corporation, SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation та Mitsui & Co.

Deadlines: The contract is for approximately five years, until March 2031 year.

This initiative reflects the global trend of using commercial satellites for national security needs, allowing for faster system deployment and lower costs compared to traditional government programs.
