Umbra has signed an agreement on joint research and development (CRADA) with the US National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (that), which will allow both sides to strengthen their capabilities in the field of synthesized aperture radar (SAR) and radio frequency (RF) analysts.
Cooperation to strengthen national security
As part of the CRADA, Umbra will gain access to NGA research, which will help better adapt the company's technologies to the operational needs of the US government. that, in turn, will be able to leverage Umbra's advanced solutions to expand research and operational capabilities.
This agreement is part of NGA's strategy to expand cooperation with the private sector in the field of geospatial intelligence (GEOINT), aimed at introducing innovations and strengthening national security.
Innovations in the field of SAR and RF technologies
The collaboration will focus on exploring new modes of data collection, rapid prototyping and optimization of technologies for dynamic missions. Umbra's high speed of development and data processing will allow NGA to quickly test new approaches and adapt them to current challenges.
IN 2023 Umbra presented the world's first commercial bistatic SAR images, obtained thanks to the group work of her companions. The use of satellite clusters opens up new opportunities for geospatial intelligence, including multi-static data collection and strengthening operational resilience.
Support for US defense initiatives
Umbra works with NRO (The US National Intelligence Service), SDA (Space Development Agency), NASA, DARPA and AFRL, delivering large volumes of high-quality data with minimal latency.
The company is a vertically integrated space technology developer and provides satellite intelligence services for commercial and government clients. The main offices and production facilities are located in Santa Barbara (California) and Arlington (virginia, USA).
The new agreement will strengthen NGA's ability to use commercial technology for national security, expanding cooperation between the public and private sectors in the field of GEOINT.
