Commercial space station developer Vast enters satellite manufacturing market with line of high-power satellite platforms. 19 May 2026 In 2018, the company announced Vast Satellite, a line of satellite platforms, optimized for a wide range of tasks: from providing broadband to deploying orbital data centers.
Platform mass 700 kilograms, which provides 15 kilowatt of power, can carry a payload at least 350 kilograms. It is designed for use in low Earth orbit. The electric propulsion system of the platform provides a characteristic speed (delta v) at a level above 500 m/s.
At the Vast company, a team of 10 specialists, which uses the entire internal infrastructure of the company, and next year its staff is planned to expand to 50 persons. The new direction will be led by Jim Martz, senior vice president for special projects of the company, who ran the Haven Demo mission. He previously worked on satellite programs at Muon Space and the Starshield military satellite project at SpaceX.
Vast CEO Max Haot announced the signing of the first contract for the delivery of the platform: an anonymous customer has already bought four satellites with the possibility of expanding the lot by another 200 units.
