Viasat received a contract from the US Space Force for the Protected Tactical SATCOM-Global program (PTS-G)

Viasat has been selected as one of the prime contractors within the Protected Tactical SATCOM-Global program (PTS-G), which is implemented by the Space Systems Command of the US Space Force (USSF SSC).

Viasat became one of the five companies, that received the initial Delivery Order contract 1 (DO1) as part of a large Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity deal (IDIQ). The program is aimed at developing a proliferation group of geostationary small satellites (GEO), able to provide secure communication with increased resistance to interference. The first launch of PTS-G satellites is scheduled for 2028 year, and they will serve government users.

During the initial stage, the Space and Mission Systems team of the Defense and Advanced Technologies division of Viasat will work on the creation of a dual-band satellite project (X-/Ka-bands) and ground management infrastructure, including telemetry systems, tracking, command (TT&C), as well as cyber security requirements. Works within the DO1 phase will last seven months and will end with a technical review of the project and a demonstration of the developed technology.

Technology, which is developed by Viasat, is key to creating secure, reliable and cost-effective communication systems, that support the current missions of the US Space Force (USSF) and the Ministry of Defense (DoW). The PTS-G program is consistent with the USSF's strategy for deploying maneuverable GEO satellites, which increase the flexibility and survivability of military communications.

The total value of potential contracts under the PTS-G program can reach 4 billions of US dollars.
