11 November 2025 of the year MPower Partners (Tokyo), global venture fund, focused on ESG, announced an investment in Transcelestial, a Singaporean deep technology company, which develops laser communication technologies, through its MPower Partners Fund II. As the global demand for communication tools is growing rapidly, optical communication in free space (FSO), which connects Earth and space using lasers, attracts attention.
Transcelestial is developing a unique FSO device, which achieves the quality of communication, equivalent to an optical fiber, without the need for laying cables or licenses for the use of radio waves. Investment in Transcelestial will help Japan meet urgent need for sustainable communications infrastructure, which can be quickly installed and deployed.
Transcelestial's technology roadmap covers everything from land-based platforms to high-altitude platforms (HAPS) and low Earth orbit (LEO), will lay the foundation for space-based optical communications and future orbital data centers.
