The European Commission initiated the process of official integration of Ukraine into key European space programs, recognizing the close relationship between security, defense and satellite technologies in conditions of war.
28 In October, the European Commission submitted to the Council of the EU a proposal to start negotiations on the participation of Ukraine in the Govsatcom component of the governmental satellite communication, which is part of the EU Space Program and the Union's Secure Satellite Connectivity Program.
In Brussels they emphasize, that the involvement of Ukraine in Govsatcom is an important stage in the expansion of its integration in the sphere of security and defense. The European Commission believes, that participation in the program will strengthen the country's secure satellite communications and contribute to increasing its competitiveness.
The next step will be consideration of the proposal by EU member states and approval by the EU Council. Ukraine's full participation will be approved after the relevant international agreement is concluded.
