Two European companies joined forces, to make space a new place for innovative manufacturing and scientific research. 12 November 2025 Roku Atmos Space Cargo (France — Germany) та Space Cargo Unlimited (Luxembourg) announced the signing of an agreement on the mission, the launch of which is planned for 2026 year as part of a joint SpaceX flight. The mission will demonstrate the capabilities of research and production in microgravity conditions outside the ISS.
Spaceship Phoenix 2 from Atmos will act as an orbital courier. Inside it will be placed a unique BentoBox laboratory from Space Cargo Unlimited.
This platform is intended for conducting experiments in weightlessness. After several weeks in orbit, the BentoBox will return safely to Earth in a special vehicle for further analysis. Such a flight will be the first of seven planned missions, which are to take place in 2026 year. The main goal of the missions is to confirm the economic and technological feasibility of orbital production.
CEO of Space Cargo Unlimited stated, that the company received significant commercial support, since most experiments in BentoBox are already ordered by customers.
In turn, the CEO of Atmos added, that the combination of their reusable apparatus
with the BentoBox platform creates a comprehensive service, which sets new standards for space logistics.
Both companies have serious financial backing to realize their ambitions. According to available information, Atmos Space Cargo received 13,1 million euros from the European Innovation Council for the development of its Phoenix ship 2, and Space Cargo Unlimited in September of this year attracted 27,5 million euros for the development of space production.
